Data Mining Cup Logistics

The Data Mining Cup Logistics can be used as substitute for

  • Case Studies (Module 4) for Master students in Data Science
  • Case Studies II (Fallstudien II) for Master students in Statistics
  • Laboratory in Logistics (Logistiklabor) for Master students in Logistics or Industrial Engineering

 

Additional Requirements as substitute for Case Studies (Module 4) (Data Scientists)

  • All preliminary conditions (e.g., Introductory Case Studies) must be met at the beginning of the course (April, 19th, 2021)
  • Highly advanced knowledge in Python or R programming
  • Team work to evaluate real DHL data
  • Evaluation: Final presentation and a detailed report in German or English

Content

DHL runs plenty of parcel centers throughout Germany. They handle a huge amount of parcels every day but beyond normal packages bulky items occur. Since these have to be handled differently, it is beneficial to roughly know the number of bulky items that will appear in the near future. During the Data Mining Cup the students will build prediction models based on real historical data. Detailed information about the task will be given in the first zoom session on April, 19th.

  • Digital with compulsory attendance for all

Registration

  • Registration till 01.04.2021 (for subsitute Laboratory in Logistics: 12.04.2021) via: sia.statistik@tu-dortmund.de
  • Important: An NDA is necessary to receive the data. Shortly after registration we will send you the NDA which you need to print, sign and send back to us via mail.

 

The introductory event will take place April, 19th at 3pm. After we received your signed NDA in paper you will receive a zoom Link for the meeting. Further information will be given during the meeting.
